ARTIST: Lynda Swenson

TITLE: Petaluma Landscapes

“Walking through Petaluma, CA during the surreal fire season of 2020, the landscape emerged through the smoky air as simple, rounded forms with ethereal, transparent colors. These suggested both figures and an interconnected community.”

Lynda Harwood-Swenson is a print maker and art educator based in Seattle, WA. Her work is driven by its potential to connect and engage in the world, specifically through the lens of environmental, migratory and feminist issues. Swenson holds a BA in English Lit from Michigan State University and a certificate in Museum Studies from University of Washington. 

Swenson attended residencies in Orquevaux, France 2022, in Petaluma, CA in 2020, and Vermont Studio Center in 2018. She is the recipient of a Denis Diderot Artist in Residence Grant 2020, in 2018 she received The Clowes Fund Fellowship Award for Vermont Studio Center and a Merit Award from The Printmakers’ Hand IV from Corvidae Press. In 2016 she received a GAP Grant from Artist Trust as well as a purchase award from Seattle Public Utilities Collection.
